Friday, November 20, 2009 Built to Spill/Disco Doom/Finn Riggins at the Showbox at the Market, Seattle, WA:

A few months back, Built To Spill released their ninth full-length album, There Is No Enemy. It is their best album in years, and it is my favorite album of 2009 by far. My favorite song is Planting Seeds. "They think that they get it, but they always get it wrong/They'll play your favorite song just to sell shit to you/ I've heard that they'll sell anything and I think they might/I think Bill Hicks was right about what they should do."

Built to Spill only played three songs from the new record, Done, Hindsight, and Life's A Dream, but they played a great set that spanned all of their albums. The highlights for me were Reasons and When Not Being Stupid Is Not Enough. They ended the set with an extended version of Conventional Wisdom.

The surprise of the night was the Idaho band Finn Riggins. I bought all of their records.
