Free Indie Rock
This is Eric's trip...
I have always had a fondness for off-beat indie releases like They Might Be Giants: Lincoln, noise records like Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation, and do-it-yourself albums like Beat Happening: Jamboree. I went to high school during the "Grunge Explosion" so I have a reverence for smashed guitars, feedback, and extended jams played on tuning knobs. I went to college during the cassette trading days of Pavement, Helium, and Neutral Milk Hotel so I have a refined appreciation for static and tape hiss.
For a six year period starting in 1995, I made audio recordings of indie rock concerts. I spent all of my weekends at rock clubs and recorded dozens of my favorite bands as they passed through Seattle. By the end of the decade, I had a collection of hundreds of rare and exclusive concert recordings. I have decided to archive my entire collection online so that people can listen to the music. This will be a very time consuming project, but the end result should be a treat for any fan of the music of the 90s. I hope you enjoy it.
